About Us
Vision Statement
We envision a future where burial practices contribute to the healing and protection of the land, gently returning us to the cycles of the natural world.
Mission Statement
We are a community-rooted initiative responding to a growing need for burial practices that honour both Earth and the natural cycles of life and death.
We hold the understanding that, in death, our bodies return to the land – nourishing and sustaining the living world. In this way, burial becomes not an ending, but a continuation of relationship.
Our practices are guided by the core principles of the Green Burial Society of Canada:
- Direct earth burial
- No embalming
- Ecological restoration and conservation
- Simple, meaningful memorialization
- Responsible and optimized land use
As a non-profit society, we are in the early stages of forming our foundation: building membership, fostering community awareness of conservation, and offering educational opportunities to deepen understanding of green burial.
We encourage people to connect with the land where they and their loved ones will be buried and allow simple, natural commemoration of the deceased.
We are beginning to cultivate relationships with First Nations, private land stewards, and aligned organizations who share a commitment to land conservation, restoration, and respectful end-of-life practices.
“The soil is the great connector of lives, the source and destination of all. It is the healer and restorer and resurrector, by which disease passes into health, age into youth, death into life.”
